The Team of the Thünen Institute of Rural Studies analyses various challenges that rural areas face in Germany and the EU. They carry out retrospective analyses, anticipatory model-supported policy impact assessments, empirical surveys, apply spatial information technologies and support decision-making on policies for developing rural areas, identify perspectives and contribute to the scientific progress.
