| Executive summary |
Case studies are being developed to better understand issues at the global level and analyze governance issues. The case study selection was a strategic component of this project. The study sites cover a broad range of rural types, regarding to the rural-urban gradient, the agricultural intensity and the available set of ecosystem services.
To make pertinent choices a panel of criteria has been developed according to the research questions and objectives. The available data has been analyzed in combination with urban – rural typologies (EU-LUPA, Edora, national typologies). The case studies are connected to existing research and stakeholders networks in which the project partners are currently
involved.
