TRUSTEE is a three-year research collaboration between sixteen European partners from universities, science academies and research institutions aimed at understanding the complex relationships between economic development, land use and ecosystem services in rural areas at different spatial scales.
To reach our goal, we develop an interdisciplinary approach that involves four disciplines : economics, geography, ecology and agronomy. At every step of the research process, we will involve scientists, experts, and stakeholders. In doing so, this research will also strengthen the capacity of a range of stakeholders to design sustainable strategies for rural areas.
The TRUSTEE results will provide the first quantification of the many–to-many relationship between ecosystem services and economic development taking into account rural diversity and different spatial scales.
